The Opportunity  

The Department of Aerospace Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science at Ryerson University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2020, subject to budgetary approval.

The Department offers a four-year accredited Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree, and a graduate program leading to MASc, MEng and PhD degrees. The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, research and service duties. The candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research program that is externally funded and produces cutting-edge, high quality research in aerospace engineering. The candidate will contribute to our academic programs through teaching, mentoring and supervision of students to facilitate junior scholars and diversify the field. The successful candidate will be able to work with the NSERC/Bombardier  Industrial Research Chair (IRC) on Advanced Interiors and Systems research program. The candidate will engage in maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities.



Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with postdoctoral and/or industry experience. Candidates must have expertise in the field of Aerospace Structures and Manufacturing.    Strong background in one or more areas such as mechatronics, system design, reconfigurable structures, and aircraft interior would be assets. Candidates must hold a strong research profile (e.g., evidence of an emerging scholarly record, ability to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program, innovations), potential for high-quality teaching and student training, and a demonstrated capacity for collegial service. Applicants are required to be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Ontario.
